Qingdao West Coast Area to become QIHE branch

Updated:2014-04-10

As one of the venues of the 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition, Tanghaiwan Park in Qingdao West Coast Area plans to display its maritime features, according to the tourism administrative bureau of the Qingdao National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

Tanghaiwan Park in Qingdao West Coast Area

Qingdao West Coast Area comprises of a north coast, south coast and an arboretum of Tanghaiwan Park. The north coast features water sports and business functions, while the south coast features maritime recreation and ecological functions. The arboretum in Tanghaiwan Park is another well-designed place for the 2014 Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition. More than 300 kinds of plants have been planted to welcome worldwide guests to Qingdao.

Aside from enjoying the rich varieties of plants, tourists can also experience distinctive wetland sceneries in Tanghaiwan Park. Tanghaiwan Park, rated as a national wetland park at the beginning of 2014, is home to national protected animals such as the Aquila chrysaetos and the Egretta eulophotes.

In order to add more ways for tourists to enjoy the park, over 20 interactive activities have been established, including riding and fishing. Among the activities, a public rental bicycle system will be put into use around May Day. Tourists can ride along the coastline to enjoy the beautiful scenery, which meets both the goals of leisure and fitness. Moreover, a yard aimed to show folk customs will be built in Tanghaiwan Park, and several games in tiny squares emphasizing parent-child interaction will bring adults back to their childhood and let children experience old games.

Departments in the Qingdao National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone are working intensively to improve public infrastructure in the Qingdao West Coast Area venue. For instance, parking spaces are planned to increase by 1,000, and wireless Internet coverage and a self-help guide app are under construction.
