Qingdao is an important international trade port located along the western coast of the Pacific Ocean. It is also a transportation hub in Northeast Asia. Qingdao Port, built in 1892, connects with 450 ports in 150 countries and regions and has established trade contacts with 216 countries and regions. Its value of import and export in 2012 was close to $150 billion. With a container throughput of 14.5 million TEUs, the port realized a port throughput of 415 million tons.
Qingdao International Airport has 15 international (regional) airlines and 95 domestic airlines. It delivered 12.6 million passengers and 172,000 tons of cargo in 2012.
