Camellia Week kicked off at the Botanical Garden in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong province, as part of the International Horticultural Exposition on Oct 22.
In order to publicize the camellia, the organizer displayed 200 paintings and calligraphies about the flower. During the culture week, visitors can take part in a quiz show to gain a better understanding of the camellia, with winners receiving camellia saplings.
Camellia, the city flower, enjoys a history of over 2,000 years in Qingdao. It is a kind of evergreen plant and can be used in landscape design.
